Oak Grove Afterthoughts 10/25/2010
We lost a hard fought battle against Oak Grove this past week 28-18. We were in control of the game for the majority of the 40 minutes but couldnt hold on. We played extremely well, but just couldnt finish them off, and that will all be learned in time. Having the "killer instinct" to put away your opponents is the single most important attribute when facing a team like that. I am extremely proud of the work our young men have put into the preparation, and am dreading the end of the season. This has been a special group of kids, and want the season to continue for more games. Pioneer Afterthoughts 10/09/2010
After a valiant effort, we came up a little short of our 5th straight victory. We ended up losing the game, 27-24, but im a firm believer that we learned more about this team after the loss, than we did from the first four victories. We truly showed what kind of team we are, and how well we can compete with those teams that match up well against us. Pioneer was a really good football team, but it keeps me optimistic, knowing that we had the lead going into the final minutes in the game. We will bounce back and will work even harder to put us up on top, the next time Santa Teresa Afterthoughts 10/01/2010
We came away with the victory tonight, 28-14. We trailed 14-6 at halftime and needed to battle back to win the game. The team really came together, through times of adversity, to get the job done. We were battling key injuries and were missing a few players. The schedule doesn't get any easier from here on out, and we will have a tough match-up next week. But its always good to win your homecoming and to see your team come together the way they did tonight. Great Job all the way around. Sobrato Afterthoughts 09/19/2010
We came out victorious on Friday Night over our archival Sobrato high School 21-6. We played well, but still are making mistakes that we shouldn't. We head into the start of league play with a bye week and will utilize the week to improve before we face Santa Teresa. Once we stop making m Christopher Afterthoughts 09/12/2010
Well, we made it a lot more difficult on ourselves than we should have, but we came out of it with the win, 34-6. We had a tough time moving the ball, and the defending the ball in the first half. We made a lot of pointless mistakes, and will need to clean those up before the next game. We are entering our 'redemption' week and need all hands on deck, to be focused and ready to play the biggest game of our season. Looking forward to see how we react. Gilroy Afterthoughts 09/05/2010
We competed well and won our first game against Gilroy High friday night with a score 48-7. We had a lot of great performances, and were able to stay relatively healthy. Overall, we did well, but facing live competition really brought out some key flaws that we will need to work on to stay competitive in a very tough league. Offense did a great job, and with the exception of the first defensive drive, we were able to keep the Mustang offense in check. Continuing to improve, and avoiding complacency will be a key for us to continue our success. Special teams was one of our weaker spots right now, and we will need to devote a little more time to that. Also, avoiding unnecessary penalties will be very important. Luckily, these mistakes didn't hurt us in the end, but we should always look to perfect our game, and be the best possible football team in the league. All in all, we should be very pleased with our performance, and it was good to see our guys compete at a very high level. Great game all the way around, and lets focus on a new task. BEAT CHRISTOPHER!!!! 4 Team Scrimmage 08/29/2010
All in all, the scrimmage went well. Everyone got some very valuable field time and we got to face some live competition, one which we will see in a couple of weeks. I take very little from the outcomes from these scrimmages. No team wins or loses, and its not a good barometer of how well you will fare during the year. But I will say this, we are well ahead of where we were last year, and I believe that this years team is a much tighter group. We still have a lot of things we need to work on, and a lot of new plays and techniques we need to add. In time, we will be there, but know that the team you see today, will look different at the end of the year, in a good way of course. But, in summary, good scrimmage, and lets get better! BEAT GILROY! IHS Camp 08/03/2010
This past weekend, we attended the Freedom camp at IHS. I was extremely pleased with how well we did, considering we were without a few players. We got roughed up a bit, but I really enjoyed the competitiveness, and the togetherness we showed. If this is a pre-cursor to what I can expect this season, I think we will be very successful. New practice attitude 07/13/2010
We have now reached the 2nd month of the summer practice and there should also been somewhat of an attitude change. The first month of practice was more of an introductory period, however, now that we have all acclimated to the sport, the level of commitment should be picked up. Things are moving quickly and we have a short period of time to achieve our goals, so having everyone one the same page, ready to work, will be the most important factor to our success. Passing League 07/01/2010
We did a really good job in the passing session against CHS. A lot of things to take away from that. It obviously going to be different when we're in pads, things are going live with the running game, and we have more work in us. Be sure to take what we can out of this experience, and lets work to become a better team. |
