49er Camp 06/27/2010
We just wrapped up the weekend camp with Eric Heitmann from the 49ers. All in all, it was a very productive and successful weekend. Putting on pads and making contact early on in the summer will be very beneficial to us, and we can now gear our training towards the end goal, and not have to worry about the unknown of putting pads on. We definitely have things to work on as far as tackling, but we will have plenty of opportunities to do so later on. I am extremely excited for the season, now that we had an opportunity to see where we are at, and I think we'll be just fine heading into the season. The schedule for this week will be: Monday - Off, no practice, but involuntary workouts at LO at 3:30 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - Normal Practice Schedule First Day Of Practice 06/15/2010
We had a very good first day of practice. By my count, we had about 35 guys come out for the first day, and that is an awesome place to start at. Last year we had around 40-45 guys during the season. I expect a lot more guys to come out by the end of the summer, so getting the word out to some of those will be key. I know that some guys will be doing summer league for baseball, and some other things, but if anyone knows those guys, tell them to check in with me, so that I know they're interested, and they can get the right information they need to at least stay current. Again though, fantastic start to the season. We began with a nice little plyometric/agility workout and we will continue to do things like this until we hit the 49er camp next friday. Again, to be eligible to participate in the camp, the player fee, or a down payment for it, will be due ($200) as well as the camp fee ($30). It will be an exciting camp, with a few other schools attending (i believe Gilroy, Sobrato, Christopher and maybe some others), and we will be getting some great coaching by some professionals, led by C Eric Heitmann and a few of his teammates. Schedule for the remainder of the week: Tuesday: 330 - Weight room. 400 - Combined agility stations with the varsity program. 500 - Ab stations Wednesday: 330 - Nice easy jog/workout. 445 - Pool workout (bring towels and shorts) Thursday: 330 - Agility stations. 430 - Weight Room Friday - Off Remember, schedule is always subject to change. (like wednesday may or may not be a pool workout, depending if someone is in there or not) This is just what im thinking we will be doing for the week. Great job to start the week, lets finish it off strong! Football Begins!!! 06/10/2010
On monday, we begin a new football season. I am extremely excited for it. I have learned a lot from last year, and from the previous years that I have been coaching, and I think it will all pay off this year. I realized many things about coaching, as well as coaching track, that I think will be helpful in getting us to succeed this year. However, I do know that it is vital to our success that everyone is on the same page, and we all understand our roles as coaches, parents, and student-athletes. I will work with each and everyone that I come across this year, to ensure maximum success, not only on the football field, but more importantly, in life. It's a long season, and we need to keep the end goals in mind, and as long as we do that, we will succeed in one form or another. Thank you parents for all of the initial support, and I am looking forward to a great season with you all. Football Meeting 04/14/2010
For any of those that missed the first football meeting before you guys went on spring break, I will be holding another one on thrusday 4/15. Lunchtime in Coach Porras's classroom. We will be going over some important information about the season, so dont miss it! Tough Week 03/25/2010
Throughout the season, there are occasions where some weeks can be tougher than others. These weeks can affect performace tremendously. Some athletes can see these poor performances as discouraging. One of the things to keep in mind is that our ultimate goal is peek performance at the end of the year, where it really matters. So, sometimes it may seem like Coach Mike and I are working you too hard to jump well, or run fast, dont be discouraged. We want performances to be at its best at STAL finals, BVAL finals, CCS finals, and ultimately State finals. This week, we had a pretty tough work load. Times may not be as good, or jump distances may not be as good, but they will when it matter. Finished 03/21/2010
It took me a while, but I finally got the Piedmont Hills Videos up. There were a few that I wasnt able to post because the files were too big. But if you want to see those, let me know, and I can bring them to practice. New posts 03/19/2010
I havent posted anything for a while, but that will soon change. I captured a lot of videos for the Piedmont Hills meet, so I will try to get all of those up over the weekend. Videos 03/11/2010
The team has been growing on a daily basis and it is taking a little more time to upload all of your videos. But rest assured, I will get them done. I've poseted all of your videos from the form running day. Be sure to check them out, and also look at the videos of some of your peers. Try to see what we're talking about with Posture, arms and legs. The more you see these problems, the easier it will be to fix. Again... 03/03/2010
I had to redesign it again. I am trying to upload all of today's videos, and the format that I had on here didnt really work very well, so this will be try 2. Redesigned website 02/25/2010
I just redesigned the video section. It was getting a little big, so I made so that you can access your videos easier without having to scroll through the page to see yours. Hope this helps out. |
